Lady E’Hawk Runner Earns All-Conference Honors

HULL – Despite a cool and wet day, Emmetsburg freshman Rachael Moore made some people take notice on Monday afternoon. Moore earned a fourth place finish overall in the 2008 Lakes Conference Cross Country meet and earned All Conference Honors with her time of 16:08 at the finish line.

Overall, Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks finished eighth with a team score of 177 points. A total of 59 individuals competed in the girls’ event.

Emmetsburg’s other finishes came from Blake Schany, who turned in a time of 18:01 to claim 35th place, while Tacee Leebens finished with an 18:14 clocking, good for 38th place.

Tayler Bruns would finish in 48th place with a time of 19:05 and Kilay Dunnick rounded out the Lady E’Hawks’ efforts Monday afternoon with a time of 20:00 for a 52nd place finish.

For the Emmetsburg boys, the E’Hawks would run incomplete on Monday, with just three members of the squad able to compete in the Conference meet.

Allen Dunnick would provide the E’Hawks with their best finish, a time of 19:22 that translated into 33rd place out of the field of 57 competitors.

Emmetsburg’s Chad Loomis and Jared Janssen would finish together, with Loomis earning 51st place and Janssen taking 52nd place with times of 20:58.

The E’Hawks and Lady E’Hawks will compete in a final tuneup meet this afternoon (Thursday) at Spencer.

Emmetsburg will then prepare for the Class 1A District and Regional Cross Country Meet , set for Thursday, Oct. 23, which will be hosted by Galva/Holstein High School.
