Cross Country Runners Turning In Solid Efforts
WHITTEMORE – With the season winding down, the Emmetsburg girls and boys cross country teams, along with their middle school counterparts, are continuing to improve their times in competitions. Both the Lady E’Hawks and E’Hawks competed at the Algona Invitational on Monday, along with the Emmetsburg Middle School runners.
Freshman Rachael Moore would lead the Lady E’Hawks again on Monday, taking 35th place with her 17:14 time. Blake Schany would place 64th with a time of 18:16 and Tacee Leebens finished 69th with an 18:29 clocking. Tayler Bruns added a 20:08 time and 39th place in the girls JV race, and Kilay Dunnick finished 61st in the JV with a 21:19 clocking.
For the E’Hawks, Allen Dunnick ran a 19:19 to place 63rd in the varsity. Josh Lieb was 32nd in the JV with a 20:43 time and Jared Janssen ran a 20:53 to take 36th in the JV. Chad Loomis rounded out the efforts with a 21:15, 47th in the JV race.
For the Middle Schoolers, Erin Reedy took first place with a time of 12:56. Taylor Reimer was a ninth in 14:00, while Hadley Egland finished 16th in 14:29 and Chelsea Forry was 17th with a 14:39 effort. Rachel Ruddy turned in a 15:45 for a 35th place finish, while Tegan Olson ran an 18:07 for 50th place and Jenna Wolfe ran an 18:13 to place 65th.
The Middle Schoolers won the Humboldt meet on Sept. 22 with 90 points. Erin Reedy was second in 13:25, while Taylor Reimer was 10th in 14:31. Hadley Egland rand a 15:13 for 26th place and Chelsea Forry was 27th in 15:18. Rachel Ruddy ran a 15:37 for 33rd place, while Tegan Olson was 53rd in 16:48 and Jenna Wolfe ran a 19:26 for 88th place.
In action at the Spencer Middle School meet, Emmetsburg would take the team title again. Erin Reedy earned second place with a 13:51.80 time and Taylor Reimer placed sixth with a time of 15:06.85 and Hadley Egland finished in 16th place with a time of 15:55.76.
Chelsea Forry would turn in a 16:06.95 clocking to take 19th place, while Rachel Ruddy would finish with a time of 16:20.64, good for the 24th place finish. Rounding out the efforts were Tegan Olson with a17:48.57 for 34th place, Jenna Wolfe with a 19:25.40 for 45th place and Maddison Reimer, who finished in 54th place with a 21:20.95 time.
