Raiders Battle Hard Against Eagles

SWEA CITY – The Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire never quit battling in a 74-20 loss to North Sentral Kossuth on Friday night. The setback gives Ruthven-Ayrshire an 0-2 mark in district play and 0-4 on the season as they prepare for Homecoming at RA.

Ruthven-Ayrshire gained 144 yards on the ground against the Eagles’ defense on 42 rushing plays. Quarterback Brad Geelan completed just two of 11 passes against a speedy defensive secondary, but picked up 22 yards with no interceptions on the night.

The Raiders would put three scores on the scoreboard in the contest, getting touchdowns from Kyle Simington and Brad Geelan and a touchdown off a kickoff return by Mark Langner.

Kyle Simington would gain 49 yards off 12 rushes, while Colton Bakken added 36 yards off nine rushes. Shawn Molitor picked up 30 yards on a dozen carries, while Brad Geelan had 21 yards off six carries and Justin Titus added eight yards on three carries.

Mark Langner picked up 23 yards on a reception, while Ryan Sikora lost a yard on a catch.

Mark Langner made two returns for 75 yards, including his touchdown return, while Brad Geelan had a 13 yard return.

Defensively, the Raiders were led by Colton Bakken’s 12 tackles. Brad Geelan added seven tackles to the effort.

The Raiders will renew an old rivalry on Friday night when they host West Bend-Mallard for Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Homecoming.
