GRAETTINGER – After a 2-0 start on the season, Graettinger/Terril suffered its first loss of the season in a 26-12 setback to North Sentral Kossuth on Friday.

The first half of the game seemingly belonged to North Sentral Kossuth, the third-ranked team in Class 1A, as they ran up a 20-0 lead at the half time break.

“We came out a little flat in the first half while they played hard and with intensity,” said G/T coach Karlton Hector. “We didn’t match that for the first couple of quarters.”

The Knights’ first possession didn’t last very long, as they would end up punting the ball. However, penalties on the Eagles would help keep the visitors in check during the half.

After trailing 12-0 at the end of the first quarter, Graettinger/Terril looked to answer to start the second quarter as Drew Skattebo found room down the sideline, but this time the Knights were called back on a penalty, which would slow the Knights’ momentum, but a fumble recovery by Eric Hatland would give G/T a spark late in the half, only to turned away, allowing the Eagles to tack on another score for the 20-0 lead at the intermission.

The Knights’ first score came off a one yard run by quarterback Cody Dyhrkopp with 9:42 to go in the third frame, and 5:00 later, Dyhrkopp would hit a 45 yard pass to Drew Skattebo for the score.

North Sentral Kossuth would come up with a final insurance score with just over 2:30 to go in the contest to record the 26-12 win.

Graettinger/Terril was led by Jake Hoffman who had 14 carries for 60 yards. However, Graettinger/Terril would gain just 75 yards total on the ground through rushing.

Cody Dyhrkopp would complete 14 of 22 passing attempts on the night for 189 yards with just one touchdown, the 42 yard toss to Skattebo in the third quarter. Dyhrkopp threw three interceptions against North Sentral Kossuth.

Graettinger/Terril moves to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the district as they face Harris-Lake Park at Lake Park on Friday night.
