ESTHERVILLE – The conditions were almost perfect for Tuesday’s ELC-AR Invitational Cross Country meet, and the young Emmetsburg E’Hawk and Lady E’Hawks squads took advantage of the day to improve their times. The Lady E’Hawks would earn a seventh place finish in the team standings, while the E’Hawks would place sixth in the varsity boys competition.

For the Lady E’Hawks, Racheal Moore would once again lead the effort, as she ran a 6:30 opening mile on her way to a 17:00 finish, which was good for 14th place in the varsity girls division.

Blake Schany would earn a 34th place finish with her time of 18:19, nearly 3:00 faster than her time in 2007, and Tacee Leebens was clocked in at 18:35, a full 1:25 quicker than a year ago, to earn 37th place in the event.

Tayler Bruns finished with a time of 20:14, good for 47th and Kilay Dunnick would earn the 50th place finish with her time of 21:07.

In the boys competition, Emmetsburg was led by Allen Dunnick, who would run the course in 20:16, a full 1:16 faster than his 2007 effort, to finish in 29th place for the E’Hawks.

Chad Loomis would earn the 47th place finish with his effort to 22:47, while Josh Lieb ran a 22:29 and Josh Kummer rounded out the placings with a 23:46.

“I thought the kids all ran well on a tough course,” E’Hawk Head Coach Dan Dooley noted. “It was good to see our returning runners improve their times from last year. These kids all have a great work ethic and they prepare hard all week long.”
