Raiders Blanked By Aurelia

RUTHVEN – The home opener for the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders didn’t go as hoped for, as the Raiders were shut out 13-0 by Aurelia on Friday night. The loss drops the Raiders to 0-2 on the season as they prepare to open the district campaign this Friday by hosting Laurens-Marathon.

Aurelia’s Bulldogs, smarting from a loss to Graettinger/Terril a week earlier, put up a major defensive effort against the Raiders on Friday night, limiting Ruthven-Ayrshire to a negative two yards off 21 rushing attempts.

Quarterback Brad Geelan would attempt eight rushes, but was thrown for 20 yards of loss on the attempts. Shawn Molitor would carry the ball 14 times in the contest off nine tries, and Kyle Simington added four yards off four rushing attempts.

Geelan would attempt 26 passes and completed nine, with one pass intercepted, for a total of 61 yards.

Ryan Sikora was the leading receiver, with five catches for 36 yards, while Kyle Simington made five catches for nine yards. Mark Langner added six catches for eight yards and Shawn Molitor had two receptions for eight yards.

Overall, Ruthven-Ayrshire had 18 catches for 61 yards and the 21 rushes for a negative two yards, for a total offensive performance of 59 yards.

On defense, the Raiders got 10 tackles from Colton Bakken, while Shawn Molitor and Kyle Simington both had nine tackles. Mark Langner had eight tackles and Mark Geelan and Ethan Bakken both came up with seven tackles.
