Knights Play Solid At Okoboji
GRAETTINGER – The volleyball season for Graettinger/Terril opened Tuesday with an appearance at the Okoboji Tournament. The Knights came home with a 1-2 mark in the play, defeating Okoboji, but losing to Spirit Lake and Harris-Lake Park.
Against Okoboji, the Knights won by scores of 14-21, 21-13 and 16-14. Against Spirit Lake, G/T fell by and 18-21 and 13-21 margin before meeting HLP and winning game one, 21-19, but falling 10-21 and 14-16.
Theresa Peterson led the offense with 20 kills, while Tasha Neilson had 11 kills and Dakota Hovinga added nine. Liz Sparks handed out 36 assists on the night, while Leah Flaharty and Dakota Hovinga both had 17 digs and Tasha Neilson dug out 16 shots.
Tasha Neilson led the serving with 24 completions and two aces, while Liz Sparks had 19 serves and one ace and Theresa Peterson added 17 serves., while receiving 38 services. Dakota Hovinga fielded 31 serves and Leah Flaharty handled 29 serves.
Overall, we were proud of the efforts and the unity displayed throughout the match,” noted G/T Head Coach Teresa Alesch. “The girls went home with a sense of confidence and teamwork with a positive outlook on what needs improvement.”
