Raiders Fall In Opener

RUTHVEN – The 2008 football season didn’t open quite the way the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire might have hoped for, as they lost a 53-6 decision to Remsen-Union Friday night.

The Raiders’ lone touchdown came off a pass reception by Ryan Sikora, one of his two reception for 40 yards from quarterback Brad Geelan. Geelan would complete four of 18 passes for 86 yards in the contest with five interceptions. Mark Langner would make two catches for 40 yards for the Raiders in the receiving game.

On the ground, Ruthven-Ayrshire had Shawn Molitor pick up 90 yards off 12 carries, while Brad Geelan picked up seven yards off 15 carries. Justin Titus had four carries for one yard, while Kyle Simington had three carries for four yards.

On defense, the Raiders got 11 tackles from Brad Geelan and 10 tackles from Mark Langner, while Shawn Molitor and Ryan Sikora both had eight stops.

The Raiders will host Aurelia this Friday night at Ruthven.
