Nationals Sign Player With Emmetsburg Roots
Emmetsburg E’Hawk fans from the past few years will remember some of the athletic exploits of one Jack Higley. Now, those exploits may be duplicated, but on a more national level.
Or should one say at a Major League level?
John Higley, the son of Jack and Joyce (Carmichael) Higley, was recently drafted by the Washington Nationals in the First-Year Player Draft at the end of June.
Higley was the 271st pick in the 2008 Draft, being selected by the Nationals as their ninth pick in the draft.
John, who was playing collegiate baseball at Sacramento Community College, is an outfielder who bats right-handed. According to the Nationals website, Higley is projected to play as a right fielder for the Nationals.
