Flag Football Program To Expand

After adding additional playing opportunities during the 2007 season, the Emmetsburg Recreation Department will once again expand its Boys Flag Football program.

Flag Football will be offered to boys in first through sixth grades, running from Sept. 6 through October 4. This program will be held on Saturday mornings at the Emmetsburg Middle School Football Field.

Players in grades three through six will have a Tuesday afternoon session added to their program, to go along with the Thursday afternoon sessions at the Emmetsburg Catholic School.. This program will run from Sept. 9 through Oct. 2, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The primary goal of the flag football program is to teach the basic rules and fundamentals of the game of football, as well as to promote teamwork and good sportsmanship.

To start the program, a clinic will be conducted by the Emmetsburg E’Hawk Varsity Football Coaching staff on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Emmetsburg Middle School Football Field.

A participation fee is required for the program and may be paid to the Emmetsburg Recreation Department at the Emmetsburg City Hall, 2021 Main Street, in Emmetsburg.

Enrollment forms and permission slips must be returned to school or City Hall by Friday, Sept. 5.

The flag football program will wrap up for the season of Saturday, Oct. 4, when the players will take to the turf of Duane Twait Field for the Second Annual Saturday Night Under The Lights event, starting at 6 p.m.
