MILFORD – After falling the night before to Cherokee, Emmetsburg’s fortunes fell again in an 11-0 loss to Okoboji in a non-conference matchup. The loss dropped Emmetsburg to 10-5 on the year overall.

The E’Hawks would leave the bases loaded in their half of the first inning, but Okoboji would come up with a three run homer in the first for a 3-0 lead.

The E’Hawks went down in order in the second and third innings, but held Okoboji from scoring in both innings. In the fourth, the two teams held each other at bay, but in the fifth, the wheels fell off the E’Hawks’ wagon.

Nate Brown led off with a base hit for Emmetsburg, and was followed on base by Brett Wollum, who also rapped out a base hit. However, the pair were stranded when the at-bat ended. Okoboji came up and led off with two solo home runs and a fly out. A pair of singles followed before the E’Hawks got the second out, but a base hit with a passed ball would allow two runs to score before a two run homer followed to give Okoboji a six-run at-bat when E’Hawk pitcher Brett Wollum ended the at-bat with a strikeout.

Now trailing 9-0, the E’Hawks opened the sixth inning with a double from Ryan Wuebker, but left him at second when the side went down in order after that.

The Pioneers would open with a strikeout and a fly ball, but a single was followed up by their fifth home run shot of the game for the 11-0 score that ended the game under the 10-run rule.

Brett Wollum would be saddled with the loss on the mound for the E’Hawks as he allowed 11 runs off 14 hits, while striking out five batters.

For Emmetsburg, Brett Wollum would collect a double and a single, while Ryan Wuebker added a double and Nate Brown tallied a single.
