ITHACA, NY – An Emmetsburg native has earned academic recognition at Cornell University.

Justin Kerber, the son of Robin and Jeff Kerber of Emmetsburg, was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Team for the 2007-2008 season.

Kerber, a freshman at Cornell, is one of only two true freshmen to make the All American Academic Team this season, as he earned a 3.64 grade point average in Economics.

On the mat, in his rookie season, Kerber compiled a 28-11 overall record with an 8-81 duals mark. While originally slated to wrestle at 174 pounds for Cornell, Kerber moved up two weight classes in order to compete in the final seven duals of the 2007-2008 season.

Kerber then went on to claim a perfect 7-0 mark at the higher weight, defeating five league opponents to earn First Team All-Ivy Honors.

Kerber also eared a Fifth place finish in the EIWA tournament this season.
