E’Hawk Linksters Advance To District

SECTIONAL RUNNERS UP - The Emmetsubrg E”Hawks finished second behind Okoboji on Friday atthe Class 2A Sectional Golf Tournament at Emerald Hills in Arnolds Park and will advance to District play this Friday at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. ARNOLDS PARK – The E’Hawks of Emmetsburg will keep their season going this Friday with a trip to the Class 2A District Golf Tournament following a second-place finish in Sectional action Friday. The E’Hawks would shoot a team total 325 to finish 11 strokes behind Sectional Champion Okoboji in the tourney, played at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park.

For the E’Hawks, Tyler Kliegl and Robbie Myers would lead the charge in the Sectional meet. Tyler Kliegl would shoot identical rounds of 39 over the Emerald Hills course to come up with a 78 stroke total. Robbie Myers shots a 39 and a 42 to come away with an 81.

Matt Stillman carded rounds of 40 and 42 for an 82, while Matt Wellik shot a 43 and 41 to come up with an 84. Marc Siemers would shoot a 40 and 48 for an 88 and Ben McCain added a 46 and a 51 for a 97 stroke total.

The E’Hawks will play again on Friday at the Lakeside Golf Course, north of the Fort Dodge Airport, With a first or second place finish, the E’Hawks can qualify for the 2A State Golf Tournament at the Panorama National Golf Course on May 23 and 24 at Panora.
