Lady E’Hawks Earn Third At Conference Tourney
OKOBOJI – Tough competition meant a third place finish for the Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawks in the Lakes Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Monday. The league tourney was played at the Okoboji View Golf Course.
Spirit Lake would win the tourney with a team total 377, while Spencer was second with a 387. The Lady E’Hawks would follow with a 403 stroke total in third place.
Spencer’s Emily Holck was the tournament medalist with an 81, while Ashley Nielsen of Spirit Lake was the runner-up with a 90.
Coach Ted Riley’s Lady E’Hawks earned two places on the All-Conference team by virtue of their scores.
Abby Bird and Sara Schany earned spots in the top 10 for the All Conference honors for the 2008 season.
For Emmetsburg, Abby Bird would lead the Lady E’Hawks’ efforts, shooting rounds of 48 and 50 for a 98 stroke total. Sara Schany followed with rounds of 49 and 50 for a 99, while Katie Heddinger added rounds of 49 and 52 to tally a 101 stroke total.
April Corley turned in rounds of 54 and 51 for a 105, while Tori Heldt carded rounds of 56 and 54 for a 110 stroke total and Megan Myers rounded out the effort with rounds of 53 and 59 for a 112 stroke total.
The Lady E’Hawks will enter Class 2A District Tournament play on Monday, May 12, when they journey to play at Pocahontas.
