SPENCER – The Spencer/Emmetsburg girls soccer defeated Hull Western Christian on Tuesday, April 22, by a score of 2-0.

On an emotional night following the death of asst coach Rick Kaiser on Sunday, April 20, the girls hosted Western Christian of Hull and came out strong.

Despite lots of pressure and attack by both clubs, the game was scoreless until 14 minutes remained in the first half.

Spencer/Emmetsburg’s Molly Clasing dribbled into the penalty area on a great play and crossed the ball which resulted in a hand ball and penalty kick. Clasing converted the kick to take the 1-0 lead.

Early in the second half, Spencer/Emmetsburg scored their second goal of the game on a corner kick. Carolyn Gerdeman put it in play and Abby Salton put it in the goal.

Spencer/Emmetsburg improved to 4-1 on the year with the victory in Lakes Conference girls soccer.
