Boys, Girls Linksters Stumble

Emmetsburg’s boys and girls golf teams stumbled in meets on Monday.

For the boys, the E’Hawks’ 167 finished behind Spirit Lake’s 155 and Spencer’s 166.

For the E’Hawks Robbie Myers had a 40, followed by Tyler Kliegl with a 41 and Matt Wellik, Matt Stillman and Marc Siemers with 43’s. Ben McCain rounded out the effort at Spirit Lake with a 46.

In the JV match, Emmetsburg shot a 191. Nate Brown shot a 44, with Brett Wollum shooting 46. Eric Pelzer shot a 50, Arthur Heldt a 51, Matt Ballman a 52 and Anthony Smith a 64.

For the Lady E’Hawks, it was a similar story. Emmetsburg’s 208 followed Spirit Lake’s 188 and Spencer’s 200.

Katie Heddinger led the way with a 50, while April Corley shot a 51. Abby Bird carded a 52, while Tori Heldt shot a 54. Megan Myers added a 56 and Sara Schany shot a 63.

In the Junior Varsity match, Emmetsburg shot a 236 to follow Spirit Lake’s 228, and bested Spencer’s 256.

The Lady E’Hawk JV were led by Janna Hoch with a 50 and Jenny Hoch with a 53. Cortney Gappa shot a 58, while Taylor McCartan shot a 62. Krista Peaslee carded a 63 and Amanda Walters turned in a 70, while Emily Lowman shot a 72.

The Lady E’Hawks will host Western Christian and LeMars this afternoon (Thursday) along with Spencer and will play a make-up match with Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday, May 8.
