E’Hawk Thinclads Run Hard In Back-To-Back Meets

ESTHERVILLE – Running back-to-back track meets, the Emmetsburg E’Hawks put forth some outstanding efforts in action so far this week.

Coach Joe Carter’s thinclads won the Estherville Lincoln Central Relays on Monday evening and placed fourth on Tuesday at the Iowa Great Lakes Invitational at Spirit Lake.

The E’Hawks got several first place finishes,including a first in the long jump from Taylor Morris with a 19’0” jump, while Jordan Mathisen won the shot with a throw of 52’5″.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay, with Jake Vaughan, Jake Morris, Trevor Dettmann and Ethan Dykstra, took first in a time of 1:00.19 and the 800 meter relay, with Bobby Mortenson, Tommy Kuecker, Justin DeFord and Mitch Wagner ran a 1:36.60. The Mile Medley, with Tommy Kuecker, Mitch Wagner, Bobby Mortensen and Kyle Janssen, finished first with a time of 3:56.89, while the 400 meter relay with Jake Vaughan, Trevor Dettmann, Mitch Wagner and Ethan Dykstra, took first with a :46.30 clocking.

Trevor Dettmann took first in the 110 high hurdles with a time of :15.69 to round out the winning performances.

Keaton Carter took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of :56.46 and Ethan Dykstra was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.80. Josh Wolfe was third in the discus, throwing 115’10“, while Trevor Dettmann was third in the long jump with an 18’3” effort.

Mitch Wagner was third in the 100 meter dash with a :12.15 time, while Allen Dunnick took third in the 1600 meters with a 5“27.11 and Justin DeFord was third in the 200 meter dash with a :24.74.

Keaton Carter finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of :25.11 and Lucas Thomsen was sixth in the discus with a throw of 112’3″.

Other results included Ben Pelzer with a discus throw of 90’3” and Jared Janssen with a high jump of 5’4″ . JAke Morris had a long jump of 18′, while JC Rezabek had a shot put throw of 44’3” and Lucas Thomsen threw the shot 44’1/2″.

Jared Janssen ran the 400 meter dash in 1:05.56 and Taylor Morris ran a :59.26, with Matt fandel running the 100 meters in :13.10. Jake Morris turned in a :17.21 in the 110 high hurdles and Ethan Dykstra ran a :15.75. Yu Jae Kim finished the 1600 meters in 6:44.56, while Jake Morris had a 1:03.5 in the 400 hurdles and Joey Naig ran a 1:08.6 in the same event.

Matt Fandel had a time of :27.32 in the 200 meter dash, while Allen Dunnick recorded a 12:29..10 and Yu Jae Kim had a 2:51.57 in the 800 meter run.

The shuttle hurdle relay of DeFord, Austin Oppenheimer, Justin Firkins and Joey Naig had a 1:11.02 clocking, while the 800 relay team of Naig, Kyle Elbert, Langston Jones and Cory Schultes ran a 1:44.18. The 1600 meter relay of Elbert, DeFord, Schultes and Bobby Gappa, finished with a 4:10.98, while the 400 relay of Naig, Travis Ring, Fandel and Florian Hoese, ran a :52.78 and the 1600 meter relay of Jared Janssen, Kyle Elbert, Bobby Gappa and Cory Schultes, finished with a 3:59.92.

On Tuesday, the E’Hawks earned fourth at the Iowa Great Lakes Meet, paced by the first place finish of the shuttle hurdle relay, as Vaughan, Morris, Dettmann and Dykstra finished with a 1:00.65 clocking. Ethan Dykstra won the 110 high hurdles in :15.28.

Trevor Dettmann took third in the long jump with a 20’10” leap, while the 1600 meter relay, with Bobby Mortenson, Tommy Kuecker, Keaton Carter and Kyle Janssen, took third in 3:45 23.

The 400 meter relay,with Jake Vaughan, Trevor Dettmann , Mitch Wagner and Ethan Dykstra took fourth in :46.18 and the 800 meter relay, with Mortenson, Tommy Kuecker, Justin DeFord and Mitch Wagner, took fourth with a time of 1:37.04.

Justin DeFord took fourth in the the 200 meter dash with a time of :23.25 and the 1600 meter medley, with Kuecker, Mitch Wagner, Mortenson and Kyle Janssen, earned fifth place with a time of 4:00.73.

Taylor Morris placed sixth in the long jump, jumping 19’10” , while Mitch Wagner took sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of :11.60. Keaton Carter was sixth in the the 200 meter dash with a :24.27, while Ethan Dykstra took sixth in the the 400 hurdles with a 1:02.60. Lucas Thomsen was seventh in the discus with a 116’7” throw and Jordan Mathisen took seventh in the shot put by throwing 44’9″ and Jake Morris rounded out the placings with an eighth place in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.65.

Other efforts included Josh Wolfe with a discus throw of 109′ and Lucas Thomsen throwing the shot 43”7″.

The JV shuttle hurdle relay, with DeFord, Austin Oppenheimer, Justin Firkins and Joey Naig had a 1:11.26, while Langston Jones finished the 100 meter dash in :12.28.

In the 400 dash, Keaton Carter ran a :58.43 and Taylor Morris ran a :59.50. Allen Dunnick ran a 5:33.92 in the 1600 meter run and a 2:32.10 in the 800 meter run.

The JV 800 meter relay, Naig, Kyle Elbert, Langston Jones and Cory Schultes, ran a 1:44.06, while the 1600 medley relay of Elbert, DeFord, Schultes and Bobby Gappa, ran a 4:09.56. The 400 meter relay, with Naig, Travis Ring, Matt Fandel and Jake Morris, rand a :05.06 and the 1600 meter relay, with Jared Janssen, Kyle Elbert, Bobby Gappa and Cory Schultes, finished with a 4:08.54.

The E’Hawks will continue the track and field season this Friday, April 18, when they compete in the Pocahontas Area Relays at Pocahontas.
