E’Hawk Thinclads Run At Tomahawk Relays
CHEROKEE – A limited squad of Emmetsburg E’Hawk journeyed to Cherokee on Saturday to participate in the Tomahawk Relays. The E’Hawks that participated improved on their times, but more importantly, got some additional time on the track in a season shortened by the weather.
The E’Hawks got a pair of first place finishes, as Lucas Thomsen won the shot put with a throw of 45’6“. In the 110 high hurdles, Trevor Dettmann took tom honors with a time of :15.10.
Trevor Dettmann earned second place in the long jump, as he jumped 19’3″ in the competition.
Also finishing second on Saturday was the E’Hawks’ Mile Medley Relay. The foursome of Tommy Kuecker, Mitch Wagner, Bobby Mortenson and Kyle Janssen finished the event with a 3:57.89 clocking.
Emmetsburg’s 4×100 relay, with Langston Jones, Mitch Wagner, Jake Vaughan and Trevor Dettmann, took fifth place honors with a time of :47.33 and the 4×400 relay, with Bobby Mortenson, Tommy Kuecker, Justin DeFord and Kyle Janssen, finished in sixth place with a time of 3:54.72.
Lucas Thomsen placed sixth in the discus, throwing the platter 114’11” and Jake Vaughan earned sixth in the 110 high hurdles with a time of :16.54 to round out the placings for the E’Hawks.
Also competing at Cherokee were Mitch Wagner and Langston Jones in the 100 meter dash. Wagner finished in a time of :12.13, while Jones turned in a clocking of :12.81 in the event.
In the 200 meter dash, Justin DeFord finished with a time of :25.40 to round out the efforts.
The E’Hawks are scheduled to run this Friday afternoon at the Estherville Lincoln Central Relays, starting at 5 p.m. Emmetsburg will run on Tuesday, April 15, in the Iowa Great Lakes Relays at Spirit Lake, starting at 5 p.m. and will finish the week out with a Thursday appearance in the Sheldon Relays and a trip on Friday to the Pocahontas Relays.
