Lady E’Hawks Compete In Dickinson Indoor Relays At UNI

CEDAR FALLS – Members of the Emmetsburg/Graettinger-Terril Lady E’Hawk track squad traveled to Cedar Falls on Tuesday to compete in the Dickinson Indoor Relays at the University of Northern Iowa.

With weather sounding shaky for the outdoor opener of the track and field season on Thursday, the Lady E’Hawks took advantage of the facilities at the UNI Dome to gain some competition experience.

The best finish by the Lady E’Hawks on the day came in the 400 meter dash, where Kayla Herbers, a state meet qualifier in the 400 last season, finished 19th overall, with a 1:03.39 clocking.

In preliminary action in the 60 meter dash, Alisha Dunnick turned in a time of :08.95, converting into 112th place, and teammate Jordan Kerber finished in :09.00, which translated into a finish of 122nd.

Moving into the 200 meter dash, Mollie Smith competed for the Lady E’Hawks, and turned in a time of :30.54, which was the 116th fastest time.

In the800 meter run, Molli Schmeling finished in 81st place with her effort of 2:45.16, and in the 1500 meter run, Tacee Leebens would turn in a time of 6:04.15.

The Lady E’Hawks also competed in three relay events on Tuesday, starting with the 4×100 relay. The quartet turned in a time of :56.87, which was good for 62nd place.

The 4×200 relay would finish in a time of 1:55.36, good for a 37th place finish, and the 4×400 relay earned a 29th place finish overall in the event with a time of 4:28.74.

To round out the efforts at the Dickinson Relays, the Lady E’Hawks got long jump performances of 15’2” from Jaimee Kerber for a 38th place finish and a jump of 15′ for Katie Malm.

In the shot put competition, Alex Lock would throw the orb 30’11.25″, which translated into the 66th best throw of the day.

Weather permitting, the Lady E’Hawks will compete this afternoon (Thursday) at he KUOO Invitational in Spirit Lake. Action is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Sheryl Maahs track at Spirit Lake High School.

Emmetsburg will then host its own Earlybird track meet on Tuesday, April 1, at Duane Twait Field, starting at 5 p.m. The girls and boys co-ed meet will feature squads from Spencer and Estherville Lincoln Central, along with the Emmetsburg E’Hawks and Lady E’Hawks.
