WAVERLY – An Emmetsburg woman earned All American honors last week as a distance runner at Wartburg College.

Emily VanOosbree, the daughter of Dave and Katie VanOosbree of Emmetsburg, a junior at Wartburg, was a member of the Knights’ Distance Medley Relay Team that earned a fifth place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field championships, which were held in Ada, Ohio.

Wartburg’s Lady Knights would finish second overall in the event, which saw the entire Wartburg mens’ and womens’ teams earn a total of 18 individual All American honors based on performances at the National meet. Of that number, the Lady Knights earned 12 of the honors, marking the seventh straight year that Wartburg has ended an indoor track and field season with 10 or more All American honors.

VanOosbree was an outstanding prep distance runner for the Emmetsburg Lady E’Hawks, earning several state meet qualifications in her prep career at Emmetsburg.
