Lady E’Hawks Start Track Season At Lakes Indoor Meet

STORM LAKE – The Lady E’Hawk track and field team rewarded new Head Coach Jeff Brennan with lots of solid times and efforts in their first outing of the year at Tuesday’s Lakes Conference Indoor Meet. The event was held at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

“We had lots of good times to build on,” noted Brennan. “The girls are working hard and we have lots of promise on this squad.”

Several freshmen members of the Lady E’Hawks had good outings, including Jordan Kerber’s third place in the 55 meter dash with a time of :06.82. Tacee Leebens took third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:40.93 and Nicole Leuer placed third in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of :09.33.

Other hurdle results included Bailee Moore with a :09.43 time for the fourth place finish, while Katie Malm was eighth in :09.78 and Blake Schany was 10th in :09.97.

In the 55 meter dash, Maddison Woodruff was eighth in a time of :07.56, while Jaimee Kerber was 14th in :07.89 and Alisha Dunick placed 21st with a time of >08.20. Morgan Vlasman ran the 200 meter dash in :31.83, for an eighth place finish, while Hillary Pico was 15th in :33.53. Tiffany Wollum turned in a :34.73 for 21st place and Haley Pettit was 22nd in :35.16.

The Lady E’Hawks entered three 4×200 relays. The first relay team, with Maddison Woodruff, Bailee Moore, Alisha Dunnick and Jaimee Kerber, took sixth place with a 2:00.05 time, while the foursome of Mollie Schmeling, Teanna Leebens, Jordan Kerber and Nicole Leuer, took seventh place with a time of 2:00.82. The final quarter, comprised of Nicole Hasbrouck, Nikki Schany, Jordan Morris and Chelsey Rouse, finished 19th with a time of 2:08.93.

Emmetsburg also entered a trio of 4×400 relay teams, starting with the quartet of Tacee Leebens, Bailee Moore, Mollie Smith and Teanna Leebens, who finished eighth with a time of 4:39.89. The foursome of Mariah Andreasen, Blake Schany, Kaitlin Weisbrod and Chelsey Rouse placed 16th with a 4:51.91 clocking and the quartet of Jordan Morris, Justine Wagner, Brenda Tonderum and Mara Lee finished in 24th place with a time of 5:38.56.

Emmetsburg’s 4×800 relay, comprised of Kaitlin Weisbrod, Mollie Schmeling, Mariah Andreasen and Justine Wagner, placed sixth in a time of 12:09.42.

In field events, Jaimee Kerber finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 14’5“, while Katie Malm finished in a tie for sixth leaping 14’1”, while Nicole Leuer was 11th with a leap of 13’7” and Maddison Woodruff jumped 13’1″. Alex Lock would earn a sixth place finish in the Girls’ Shot Put, as she threw the orb 32’10” to round out the performances for the Lady E’Hawks.

Emmetsburg will compete next Thursday, March 27, in the KUOO Invitational at Spirit Lake. Field Events will start at 4:30 p.m. at Spirit Lake High School.
