Rouse Earns Second Letter At Luther
DECORAH – Brian Rouse, a 2004 graduate of Emmetsburg High School, has been presented his second collegiate letter as a member of the Luther College football team. This honor was announced at the post-season awards banquet held Feb. 23, at the Oaks Steakhousein Decorah.
Brian, the son of Terry and Pam Rouse of curlew, played as a defensive lineman for the Norse this past season. He was credited with six solo tackles and five assisted tackles during the campaign.
Mike Durnin, who joins the Luther athletic department from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he has served as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the past seven years, was hired as Luther’s head coach in December. During this time, the Eagles produced an overall record of 48-26, capturing three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and making four NCAA Division III National Championship appearances.
Luther College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and is located in Decorah. The Norse compete in 10 men’s and nine women’s intercollegiate sports.
As a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) since 1922, the men have won 142 conference championships.
In 1982 the IIAC expanded its championship sponsorship to include women’s sports. During this time span, the women have won 56 team titles.
Combined, the Norse have captured an unmatched 198 IIAC titles.
