Geelan Signs With Briar Cliff
RUTHVEN – A Ruthven-Ayrshire prep will continue her career in volleyball at the collegiate level following graduation in May. Lynn Geelan, the daughter of Pat and Kristi Geelan of Ruthven signed a national letter of intent last Friday, Feb. 29.
Geelan signed her National Collegiate Athletic Association letter of intent to play volleyball for Coach Mary Schroeder-Miller and the Chargers of Briar Cliff University in Sioux City.
In her prep career for Ruthven-Ayrshire, Geelan was a four-year starter for the Raiders on the court, and was a Cornbelt Conference All Confernece selection as a senior for the Raiders and Head Coach Kim Sierck.
The signing makes it a new family tradition, as Geelan’s brother Matt signed a national letter a year ago to play basketball at Briar Cliff University.
On hand for the signing ceremonies on Friday were Briar Cliff Volleyball Coach Marsh Schoreder-Miller, Geelan and her parents, Kristi and Pat, as well as Ruthven-Ayrshire Head Volleyball Coach Kim Sierck and Assistant Coach Melinda Hamman, and Ruthven-Ayrshire Athletic Director Jon Josephson.
