By Staff | Feb 19, 2008

LAKE PARK – The second season came to a close early for the Knights of Graettinger-Terril on Saturday night in a 31-48 loss to Harris-Lake Park in a Class 1A District quarterfinal tournament game.

“We played hard and hustled but could not find any rhythm on offense,” noted Graettinger/Terril Head Coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “And, we gave up too many easy buckets in the second half.”

The Knights took an early 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter of play, but a dry spell in the second quarter allowed Harris-Lake Park to edge out to a five-point, 22-17 lead at the intermission.

Graettinger/Terril could only score six points in the third quarter as Harris-Lake Park added 15 points to their tally in the quarter to move out to a 37-23 advantage.

The Knights tried to get some kind of a rally going in the final quarter, but the Harris-Lake Park defense would make the stops when they needed to and held Graettinger/Terril to scoring just eight points in the final quarter for the 48-31 final score.

For Graettinger/Terril, Drew Skattebo led the scoring with nine points, while Tyler Leiting added eight points tot he effort and Beau Craig came off the bench to chip in seven tallies. Dalton Perrin added four points to the Knights’ coffers, while Eric Hatland had two points and Cody Dyhrkopp had a free throw for one point.

Defensively, Graettinger/Terril got 10 rebounds from Beau Craig, while Cody Dyhrkopp made three steals. Dyhrkopp and Drew Skattebo both dished out three assists to their teammates.

“Harris-Lake Park was ready to play,” Coach Dyhrkopp noted. “Their defense really gave us trouble and we had trouble finding their shooters.”

Graettinger/Terril closes out their season with a final mark of five wins and 12 losses, with a Conference mark of 3-6 and a Divisional mark of 3-5.
