Rowlands Earns Academic All State Basketball Honors From Coaches
RUTHVEN – A senior standout for the Ruthven-Ayrshire Raiders has been recognized with placement on the 2008 Academic All-State Boys Basketball Team. The honors are awarded annually by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.
Andy Rowlands of Ruthven is one of the 22 players selected for the honor this season. Rowlands, the son of Mr. and Mrs Erv Rowlands, was selected after meeting specialized criteria.
To be nominated for consideration, a player had to achieve the minimum requirements of a 25 ACT composite score, a 3.25 Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 scale) and be in the top 25% of their senior class. A panel of coaches representing the IBCA Board of Directors reviewed all nominations from across the state before selecting the following as the 2008 Boys’ Academic All State Basketball team.
The 2008 Academic All State Team has achieved an average ACT composite of 29.9; the student-athletes also average a 3.99 Grade Point Average; while on the court, they have a scoring average of 16.8 points per player per game. In addition 12 of them rank number one in their respective senior classes.
