The final regular season game for Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks ended on a negative note as they were edged by Pocahontas Area in a 44-38 contest Thursday night.

It was a tough start for the Lady E’Hawks, as Pocahontas Area took a 10-5 lead after one quarter of play. The Emmetsburg offense struggled through the first quarter and continued to struggle in the second frame as the Indians went on to take a 25-13 lead at the intermission.

Emmetsburg could only score six points in the third quarter, as the offense struggled to function, prompting a change in the lineup for the Lady E’Hawks as the quarter ended with Emmetsburg trailing 35-19.

In the final frame, the change in lineup seemed to rejuvenate the Lady E’Hawks, as they outscored Pocahontas Area by a 19-16 tally in the quarter, and played some solid defense, but it was too little too late as he Indians were able to post the 44-38 win.

Bailee Moore would pace Emmetsburg on the night with 18 points, while Kayla Herbers added 10 points to the effort. Molly Clasing, Tiffany Wollum, Maddison Woodruff, Mollie Smith and Frankie Schmidt all scored two points to round out the effort.
