Raider Girls Fall To North Sentral Kossuth

By Staff | Feb 6, 2008

RUTHVEN – Some untimely fouls and a cold shooting spell would deny Ruthven-Ayrshire’s girls an upset against North Sentral Kossuth on Friday night. The Raiders came up shy in a 60-45 final tally.

The Raiders opened the game on a positive note, taking a three-point, 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, but could only score a bucket in the second as NSK game back to take a 34-14 lead at the break. In the third frame, Ruthven-Ayrshire added 16 points to NSK’s 13 for a 47-30 score, but the Raiders continued to battle in the final quarter for the 60-45 final score.

Ruthven-Ayrshire was led by Lynn Geelan’s 16 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Chelsey Reed added 10 points, while Cassidy Smith added nine points. Sadie Forey scored six points and Ashley Forey added four points to the effort.

“Outscoring the Eagles in three of the four quarters, we put ourselves in a position to compete for a win,” noted Coach Jon Josephson. “We were thrilled to put 45 points on the board against a very strong defensive team who dogged us man-to-man.”
