G/T Knight Cagers Fall to TRV
GRAETTINGER – It was a long night for the Graettinger/Terril girls and boys on Friday as they both fell to Twin River Valley at Bode.
In the girls contest, the Knights came up short in a 56-32 contest. TRV jumped out to a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and G/T could never erase the deficit the rest of the night. After trailing 28-14 at halftime, Graettinger/Terril trailed 41-26 to start the final quarter and TRV went on to take the 56-32 win.
Malorie Girres led the Knights with 16 points on the night, while Theresa Peterson had eight points. Liz Sparks, Dakota Hovinga, Tasha Neilson and Amanda Olson all added two points each to the effort.
“I felt we did a nice job at both ends of the court,” noted GT Co-coach Roger Conway. “We showed good patience and ball movement on offense and did well fighting through moving screens. You never like losing but our overall game showed good improvement.”
For the boys, TRV dispatched the Knights by a 59-35 final tally. The Thunder took an early 15-5 lead after one quarter and Graettinger/Terril struggled in the second quarter to trail 31-9. TRV went on to hold a 43-26 lead in the third quarter and went on to cruise to the 59-35 final score.
Graettinger/Terril got 10 points from Tyler Leiting in the setback, while Cody Dyhrkopp added nine points. Dalton Perrin and Drew Skattebo both scored five points, with Eric Hatland chipping in four points and Beau Craig scoring two points.
“It wasn’t one of our better efforts,” admitted GT Head Coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “We played hard and hustled, but we didn’t take care of the little things. Their size gave us trouble on the inside and they did a good job making us pay for our mistakes on both offense and defense.”
