Raider Girls Fall To MMC
RUTHVEN – Despite a good start out of the gate, the Ruthven-Ayrshire girls were unable to shut down Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in a 67-30 loss Saturday night.
The game started closely, with the Raiders playing the Eagles to a 7-9 score at the end of the first quarter, but MMC put some distances on the Raiders in the second quarter, taking a 31-13 lead at the intermission.
MMC would continue to use good defense to aid their cause, outscoring RA 24-13 in the third quarter for a 55-26 lead at the end of the third quarter and then went on to record the 67-30 final tally.
For Ruthven-Ayrshire, Chelsey Reed led the effort with 12 points, while Lynn Geelan, Sadie Forey and Cassidy Smith all added six points to the effort. Sadie Forey collected eight rebounds in the contest for the Raiders’ defense.
“We had a very difficult time controlling their guards in the second and third quarters,” noted RA Head Coach Jon Josephson “and we also had a very difficult time connecting on our shots, making just six of 28 shots in the first half.”
The Raiders will host Clay Central-Everly tonight (Tuesday) in Ruthven.
