E’Hawks Split Final League Duals

The final conference duals of the season turned into a split for the E’Hawks of Emmetsburg/Armstrong-Ringsted on Thursday, as they defeated Western Christian but came up short to Spencer. The split gives the E’Hawks a 6-2 mark in Lakes Conference duals as they prepare for this Friday’s Lakes Conference Tournament at Spencer. Action will get underway at 5:30 p.m.

Against the Wolfpack of Western Christian, the E’Hawks claimed a 54-18 victory.

At 189, Ridge christiansen received a win by forfeit and at 214, Adam Leuer earned a 3:21 win by fall over Jose Leamos. Taylor Morris received a win by forfeit at 285 pounds before the E’Hawks forfeited both 103 and 112 pounds to the Wolfpack.

At 119, Jordan cody received a win by forfeit and at 125, Jake Stubbs earned a 3:21 win by fall over Jon Hofman. The E’Hawks forfeited both 130 and 135 pounds to Western Christian, but at 140, Joey Brandenburg tallied a 3:05 win by fall over chris Vande Weerd.

In action at 145, Matt Stillman received a forfeit win and at 152, Joey Naig pinned Ross Hoksbergen in :49. Tyler Schmeling was the victim of a 1:18 pin at the hands of Tyler Buys in action at 160, but at 171, Jake Morris earned a 1:13 win by fall to make the final score 54-18.

Against Spencer, the outcome was not what the E’Hawks had hoped for.

At 285 pounds, Taylor Morris was pinned by Casey Muessigmann in 1:33 of the match before the E’Hawks forfeited both 103 and 112 pounds to the Tigers. Jordan Cody won a 20-6 major decision over Ryan Edwardson, but at 125, Jake Stubbs was pinned in 5:30 of his match with Evan Quail.

Emmetsburg/Armstrong-Ringsted would forfeit both 130 and 135 pound weight classes to give Spencer a 36-4 lead, before Joey Brandenburg lost a 14-4 major decision to Justin Hograve at 140.

Matt Stillman took a 16-4 major decision over Matt Wilkerson at 145 pounds and at 152, Joey Naig pinned Jacob Zobrist in 5:41 of their match. Tyler Schmeling scored a 1:22 win by fall over John Bendlin in action at 160 and at 171, Jake Morris pinned Zach Van Wetting in 1:58 of the match.

Trailing 26-40, the E’Hawks’ hopes were dashed when Ridge Christiansen lost a 9-3 decision to Sean Elliott in the 189 pound match and at 215, Adam leuer lost a 3-1 decision to Tyler Kacmarynski for the 26-46 final score.
