Lady E’Hawks Stumble In Loss
Emmetsburg’s Lady E’Hawks dropped a 33-48 decision to Storm Lake in Lakes Conference basketball play on Tuesday. The loss drops Emmetsburg to a mark of 1-10 in the Lakes and 4-11 overall as they now prepare to take on league-leading Estherville Lincoln Central on Friday in Estherville.
The Lady E’Hawks took an early lead in Tuesday’s contest, capitalizing on a flat Storm Lake team, taking a 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, and went to the locker room trailing 17-15 at the intermission. But in the second half, Storm Lake was a different team. Pressure began to wear down the Lady E’Hawks and a lack of shots finding the mark combined to allow Storm Lake to post a 35-24 lead to start the final quarter and take the 48-33 victory as they were able to keep Emmetsburg from finding the bucket with regularity in the final quarter.
For Emmetsburg, Bailee Moore would lead the offense with 12 points, while Tiffany Wollum added eight markers to the tally. Kayla Herbers chipped in five points on the night, while Bridget Rouse hit a three-pointer and Mollie Smith also tallied three points, with Molly Clasing scoring two points.
Kayla Herbers and Bailee Moore both had seven rebounds, with Tiffany Wollum making three steals and Maddison Woodruff blocking one shot.
