Knights Fall In to CC-E
GRAETTINGER – In a low-scoring matchup on Tuesday, Graettinger/Terril’s Knights lost a 39-29 decision to Clay Central-Everly in Cornbelt Conference boys basketball action. The Knights fall to 4-9 in the conference, 2-4 in the division and 11-9 overall on the season.
Graettinger/Terril held an 11-9 lead after the first quarter, but Clay Central-Everly’s Mavericks were able to tie the contest at 17-17 at the intermission.
In the second half, Graettinger/Terril and Clay Central-Everly continued to trade buckets in the face of determined defensive play from both teams. But, the Knights would hold a one-point, 26-25 lead at the end of the third frame.
However, Clay Central-Everly would slip past the Knights in the fourth quarter as Graettinger/Terril’s shooting went away and would take the 10-point, 39-29 win over the Knights.
For Graettinger/Terril, Tyler Leiting led the offense with 12 points, while Dalton Perrin added six points. Drew Skattebo chipped in five points, with Cody Dyhrkopp hitting three points and Eric Hatland tossing in two points.
“It wasn’t a very pretty game,” admitted Graettinger/Terril head Coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “We did a great job of staying right in the game until the middle of the fourth and then we had a tough time scoring, but I can’t fault our effort.”
