Tough Week On Mats For E’Hawk Wrestlers

By Staff | Jan 15, 2008

It was a tough week on the wrestling mats for Emmetsburg/Armstrong-Ringsted’s E’Hawk wrestlers.

In a double dual on Thursday, the E’Hawks split with Manson Northwest Webster and Rockwell City-Lytton/Southern Cal and on Saturday, journeyed to Osage to wrestle in the Osage Duals, only to finish 0-3 in the event.

In Thursday’s non-conference double dual at Rockwell City, the E’Hawks saw the return of 135 pounder Blake Wiley to the lineup after an injury. The E’Hawks battled Manson Northwest Webster down to the wire, but a forfeit in the final match gave the Cougars a five point, 39-34 win over the E’Hawks.

Osage Duals

On Saturday, the E’Hawks ventured east to Osage to participate in the Osage Duals. This year, the E’Hawks wrestled Osage, Independence and Kasson-Mantorville, Minn in the round-robin tournament, and had four wrestlers earn All Tournament Honors for finishing the day undefeated.

E’Hawk 119 pounder Jordan Cody, along with Matt Stillman at 145, Jake Morris at 171 and Adam Leuer at 215, all earned the honors to give the E’Hawks a bright spot in a long-tough day of wrestling.

The E’Hawks would be forced to forfeit 103, 130 and 135 pound weight classes due to injuries, and giving up 18 points in every match proved costly on Saturday.

Against Osage, the E’Hawks would come up short in a 48-25 tally, and against Independence, the E’Hawks lost a close, 38-30 match. Against Kasson-Mantorville, Emmetsburg/A-R would finish on the wrong side of a 31-45 final tally.
