Knights Fall To Ventura’s Pressure
GRAETTINGER — It was a long night for the Knights of Graettinger/Terril on Friday as they lost a 58-36 matchup to Ventura’s Vikings. The setback dropped the Knights to a mark of 4-7 in the Cornbelt Conference boys standings, as they prepare to take on Clay Central-Everly tonight (Tuesday) in Everly.
“We faced an uphill battle all night,” said G/T coach Brent Dyhrkopp. “We kept the game close for about two and a half quarters, but then their pressure got to us.”
Graettinger/Terril trailed 15-8 after the opening quarter and went down by eight points at the intermission as the league leading Vikings were able to score almost at will.
The Knights tried to stay with the Vikings in the second half, but Ventura clamped down defensively and took the Knights out of their offense, limiting G/T to few shot opportunities as they moved out to a 42-31 lead to start the final quarter. Ventura would go on to expand their lead as the Knights struggled to get shots off and get them to fall in the final quarter for the 58-36 final.
Cody Dyhrkopp led the Knights with 11 points while Tyler Leiting tossed in 10 points. Dalton Perrin added nine points, while Eric Hatland and Drew Skattebo both scored three points to round out the offensive effort.
Dalton Perrin would lead the defensive effort with 10 rebounds on the night, while Tyler Leiting grabbed five. Cody Dyhrkopp made two steals and Eric Hatland handed out three assists.
