Lady Wolverines Defeat Rockwell City-Lytton
WEST BEND — The West Bend-Mallard girls basketball team handed the Wildcats of Rockwell City-Lytton by a 68-58 tally on a foggy Thursday night. The non-conference victory improved West Bend-Mallard to a mark of 5-5 overall on the season.
Rockwell City-Lytton would take the early lead on Thursday, taking a 12-8 advantage over the host Lady Wolverines, and then extended their lead to 11 points at the intermission as the Lady Wolverines struggled with their offense in the second quarter.
Trailing 33-22 to start the second half, West Bend-Mallard started fighting their way back into the contest. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Wolverines had cut the marttin to a point, 43-42. West Bend-Mallard continued to roll in the final quarter as they passed the Wildcats and went on to tally the 10-point, 68-58 victory.
Kari Zinnel led West Bend-Mallard in the victorious effort with 22 points, while Kayla Hartman added 20 points for the Lady Wolverines.Courtney Laubenthal and Amanda Friend both scored 10 points on the night, with Courtney Streit rounding out the scoring with six points.
