Knights Wrestle Hard At DeLeon Invitational Tournament
BRITT — The Knight wrestlers of Graettinger/Terril put forth a solid effort at last weekend’s DeLeon Invitational Wrestling Tournament at West Hancock High School.
A total of four Knights earned first-place honors with 5-0 records in the round-robin format tournament and placed fourth as a team.
For GT, James Tatman took first at 103 for the second year in a row, pinning his way through the field. Michael Jensen at 135 pounds, Kass Schany at 160 and Jake Hoffman at 189 pounds also were perfect on the day with 5-0 marks to win titles.
Heavyweight Kyle Brown and 171 pounder Josh Anderson would earn second place finishes with 4-1 records. Earning third place for the Knights was Ryan Schany with a 3-2 record at 112 pounds, while Logan Tonderum, Taylor Harris and Heath Marchand all finished fifth with 1-4 records.
“Most of the kids wrestled well,” said G/T coach Cody Alesch. “We need to improve on a few things as team, but the kids are really working hard.”
