G/T Girls Take Win Over Lady Wolves
LAKE PARK – The Knights of Graettinger/Terril were 15 points better that the Lady Wolves of Harris-Lake Park in a Cornbelt Conference girls matchup Tuesday night. The win gives the Knights a mark of 3-6 overall on the season, along with a 2-3 mark in the Western Division of the Cornbelt Conference.
With the sharpshooting f Theresa Peterson and Malorie Girres to lead them Graettinger/Terril held a narrow, 7-6 lead after one quarter of play on Tuesday. In the second quarter, the Knights managed to edge out to a 21-17 advantage at the break, before a mediocre third quarter would see both teams struggle offensively.
The Knights would tally just seven points in the third, while Harris-Lake Park collected just four point for a 28-21 score to start the final quarter. Graettinger/Terril would go on to add 14 points in the final stanza of action, while H-LP added six points for the 42-27 final.Theresa Peterson led the Knights with 19 points, while Malorie Girres came p with 10 points. Liz Sparks added nine points, with Tasha Neilson and Dakota Hovinga both scoring two points in the final tally.
Theresa Peterson also paced the defense, pulling down 11 boards in the victory.
“Our defense was strong for all four quarters,” noted GT Co-Coach Roger Conway. We got some good looks on offense, but just had some times when the ball wouldn’t fall.”
The Knights will host Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne tonight (Thursday) before starting the holiday break.
