RA Boys Down Harris-Lake Park

By Staff | Dec 11, 2007

RUTHVEN – Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Raiders continue to play solid basketball as they claimed a 56-52 win over a tough Harris-Lake Park squad in Cornbelt Conference boys action Friday night.

“It was good to get a win on the road,” noted Ruthven-Ayrshire Head Coach Randy Hough following the win. “Once again, our ability to have players come in off the bench proved beneficial to us, as we got in foul trouble early.”

The Raiders would put a solid defensive effort on the Wolves, a team known for the ability to fire off a three-point shot without warning.

Ruthven-Ayrshire would play good defense until a brief stretch in the final quarter when the Wolves were able to sling some three-point shooters underneath the Raider defense. However, the Raiders would keep their composure and came away with the four-point, 56-52 margin of victory.

For Ruthven-Ayrshire, Andy Rowlands would lead the offensive performance with 14 points in the contest. Ryan Hoffman added 11 points, while Brad Geelan, Cody Zielstra and Ryan Sikora all added eight points, showing the balanced offensive attack of the Raiders. Tyler enderson added five points, while Carl Jensen chipped in two points to the cause.

Defensively, Brad Geelan came away with seven carroms, while Tyler Enderson and Ryan Hoffman both pulled down six boards for the Raiders. Cody Zielstra would pick off three steals for the Raiders, while BRad Geelan and Tyler Enderson both made two steals. Brad Geelan dished out three assists, while Andy Rowlands, Tyler Enderson, Cody Zielstra and Carl Jensen all handed out two helpers to their teammates.

“For the most part, we played pretty good defense against them,” Coach Hough observed, “except in the fourth quarter when we didn’t identify shooters and that allowed them to get three three-point shots. But, we ran our offense very efficiently in the second half and had good balanced scoring.”

The Raiders will play host to Graettinger/Terril tonight (Tuesday) before they travel on Friday night to Everly to play Clay Central-Everly.
