POCAHONTAS -- John A. Lubinus, age 57, of Pocahontas, passed away Friday July 4, 2014, near Gilmore City in a motorcycle accident.
Memorial services for John Lubinus will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at the Hope United Methodist Church in Pocahontas. Pastor Jerry Miller will officiate.
Burial will be in Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas. Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas is in charge of arrangements.
John Arnold Lubinus was born March 26, 1957, to Arnold and Marlene (Cundiff) Lubinus. He was confirmed at the United Methodist Church. John graduated from Pocahontas Community High School in 1975. He attended college at ISU, "GoCY!" John returned home and farmed with his dad and eventually took over the operation.
On Feb. 14, 1996, John married Judy Sindergard in Emmetsburg. John became an instant dad and more important GRANDPA. John always had a smile, a hello, and a love for his family and friends. Be it taking Lori for a ride in the bus, doing for Judy, or getting this to there, John was the one.
John has been a member of the Iowa Off -Highway Assoc., Iowa State Snowmobile Assoc., ABATE of IOWA, Pheasants Forever, the Pocahontas Fair Board, and the past president of SNO-PAK.
John is survived by his father Arnold and wife Benita (Eberle) of Pocahontas, sister Kim and husband Lynn Johnson of Albert City, daughter Kim and husband Tim Kerr of Cylinder, daughter Tracey Henderson of Emmetsburg, grandchildren Tyler, Clayton and Cody Henderson and Adam and Arik Kerr.
John was preceded in death by his mom Olie, wife Judy and sister Lori.
