Track Season Starts At Lakes Indoor Meet

STORM?LAKE?- A taste of the upcoming track and field season showed lots of promise for Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawk and E-Hawk thinclads. Both girls and boys participated in the Lakes Conference Indoor meet Tuesday, March 18 at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.

The Lady E-Hawks earned a third place finish and several fourth place finishes in events, while the E-Hawks got a trio of first place finishes including two individual event wins.

Leading the way for the Lady E-Hawks on Tuesday was the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, comprised of Bailey Naig, Helena Fantz, Alexa Naig and Hadley Egland, as they took third place with their :43.04 time in the 55 meter event.

Mikki Mundus would earn fourth place overall in the girls 200 meter dash with a time of :30.20, while Tegan Olson placed fourth in the shot put, throwing 32'7.75".

The varsity 4x200 relay, with Bailey Naig, Mikki Mundus, Alexa Naig and Emily Bonnstetter, took fourth place with a time of 2:00.13, while the junior varsity quartet of Sarah Simington, Shelby Loomis, Kiersten Duhn and Jenna Chapman, finished 14th with a time of 2:08.17.

In the 60 meter dash, Shelby Loomis finished 11th with a time of :09.12, while Kayla Joyce was 15th with a :09.44 time. Rachel Ruddy finished 19th in :09.52, while Sarah Simington was 20th in :09.52 and Jenna Chapman was 26th in :09.72.

Hadley Egland earned sixth place overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of :10.78, while Jordan Hoyman finished 23rd with her :12.48 effort.

In the 200 meter dash, Kayla Joyce finished 17th in a time of :31.90 and Rachel Ruddy finished 26th with a :33.39 clocking.

Tara Harris finished 16th in the 800 meter run in a time of 3:06.46, while Madeleine Mueller was 20th with a 3:16.76. Alli Enriquez finished 24th in 3:19.15 and Maura Soukup was 25th in 3:26.34, while Ema Enriquez finished 31,st in 4:01.07.

For the 1500 meter run, Cierra McAllister placed 11th with a 6:05.32 time and Tara Harris was 12th with a 6:05.47 clocking.

The 4x400 relay of Helena Fantz, Alexa Naig, Jordan Hoyman and Bailey Naig would earn a seventh place finish with t time of 4:46.53 and the 4x800 relay comprised of Jordan Hoyman, Madeleine Mueller, Taylor Reimer and Caroline Fantz finished sixth ina time of 11:38.72.

Rachel Ruddy would earn eighth place in the long jump with a leap of 13'3" and in the shot put, Natalie Ruiz would finish eighth with a throw of 29'3.50" and Olivia Hampe finished 23rd with a throw of 21'11.50".

E-Hawk Results

Senior Allen Jensen earned two championships on Tuesday, as he won the 60 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash at the Lakes Indoor meet. In the 200 meter dash, Jensen turned in a :23.48 clocking for the first place finish, and in the 60 meter hurdles, Jensen crossed the finish line in :08.75 for the victory.

Picking up where they left off last season, the E-Hawks' Shuttle Hurdle Relay squad took top honors as well in the 55 meter event, as the foursome of Brandon Elbert, Jacob Kibbie, Zach Anderson and Allen Jensen whipped off a :35.44 to start their season off with a win.

The E-Hawks' 4x800 relay, comprised of Wes Brennan, Daniel VanOosbree, Carson Clark and Nick Grandstaff, earned third place honors with a time of 9:33.19,

Nick Grandstaff would finish sixth in the 1600 meter run with his time of 5:09.23, and the varsity 4x200 relay, made up of Aaron Bird, Jacob Kibbie, Shay Mortenson and Zach Anderson, also finished sixth with a time of 1:42.20, while the junior varsity foursome of Wes Schultes, Brandon Elbert, AJ?Krieg and Grant Deitering, finished 11th with a time of 1:45.45.

The junior varsity 55-meter Shuttle Hurdle Relay, made up of Dalton Connelly, Brent Wesley, Grant Deitering and Alex DeFord, finished sixth with their :41.44 clocking.

In the 200 meter dash, Alex DeFord placed eighth in a time of :26.01 and Wes Schultes was 15th with a :26.77 clocking.

Brandon Elbert would finish 10th overall in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking in with a :09.84 effort.

In the 60 meter dash, Aaron Bird finished 13th in :07.91, while AJ?Krieg turned in a :08.10 for 21st place and Jacob Kibbie was 22nd in :08.12. Thomas Schultes finished 30th with a time of :08.37 and Max Dunlap finished 36th with a time of :08.83.

In th e800 meter run, Dalton Hauschen finished 21st with a time of 2:46.24 and Larry McAllister finished 27th with a time of 2:04.25.

Emmetsburg entered three relays in the 4x400 meter event, with the varsity relay of Shay Mortenson, Aaron Bird, Wes Brennan and Zach Anderson finishing tenth with a time of 4:03.44, while the relay comprised of Grant Deitering, Dalton Hauschen, Max Dunlap and Thomas Schultes finished 16th with a time of 4:16.87 and the quartet of Carson Clark Larry McAllister, Dalton Connelly and Brent Wesley finished 18th with a time of 4:31.92.

AJ?Krieg would earn a 13th place finish in the long jump with his effort of 17'1.25" and in the Shot Put, Nick Jackson earned 13th place with a throw of 35'10". Nick Chapman finished 14th with a throw of 34'9.5", while Pat Brennan threw 34'3.75" to place 18th and Austin Noll finished 29th with a throw of 28'6.50".

The track and field season will open for both the E-Hawks and Lady E-Hawks on Tuesday, April 1, when Emmetsburg hosts an Earlybird meet at Duane Twait Field, with participants from Spencer and Estherville Lincoln Central participating. Action will get underway at 4:30 p.m.
