WEST?BEND - The regular season ended on Tuesday, Feb. 11 for the Lady Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate with a 62-52 loss to West Hancock.
The Lady Wolverines would take an early 13-9 lead over West Hancock's Eagles a the end of the first quarter of play on Monday, but a cold offensive quarter in the second frame for the Lady Wolverines would allow West Hancock to rally and outscore WBM/GCB by a 17-6 tally for a 26-19 lead at the half-time break.
In the third quarter, the Lady Wolverines continued to struggle offensively against West Hancock's defense, and were outscored 16-6 in the quarter as the visiting Eagles slipped out to a 42-25 advantage to start the final quarter of play.
West Bend-Mallard/Gil- more City-Bradgate would rally in the final quarter, as they would outscore West Hancock by seven points, 27-20, but it was a case of too little too late as the Lady Wolverines went down in defeat by the 10-point, 62-52 final score.
For the Lady Wolverines, Lauren Link led the offensive effort with 21 points, while teammate Cassie Gearhart tallied the double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the contest.
Ashley Schmidt would score eight points, with Taylor Fogerty adding six points.
Portlind Schmidt and Laura Fehr would both score two points each, while Taylor Elbert made a free throw for one point.
Ashley Schmidt made five steals for the Lady Wolverines before fouling out of the contest, while Cassie Gearhart added three steals.
Taylor Fogerty grabbed seven rebounds, while Portlind Schmidt and Lauren Link each pulled down six carroms for West Bend-Mallard/Gilmore City-Bradgate.
