A slow start for both teams translated into a tough offensive night for Emmetsburg's E-Hawks as they struggled in a 56-40 loss to the LeMars Bulldogs Tuesday night in Emmetsburg. The loss dropped the E-Hawks to 5-7 overall and 2-6 in the Lakes Conference as the second half of the league schedule begins.
Both teams had excellent opportunities to score in the first 2:20 of Tuesday's game, but the ball had other ideas. Emmetsburg saw three excellent close in bunnies hop over the hoop, while on the other end of the court, LeMars found a lid on the basket until 5:40 remained in the quarter, when the Bulldogs broke the scoreless deadlock. From there on, LeMars would edge out to take a 12-6 lead at the end of the opening frame.
The E-Hawks would battle with shots that would not fall through most of the second half, and would trail 24-17 at the half time break.

The second half saw Emmetsburg's offensive struggles continue against the speedy LeMars squad, who extended their lead to 10 points with a 42-32 margin to enter the final frame, where the would go on to outscore Emmetsburg 14-8 to take the 56-40 win.
For the E-Hawks, Thomas Schultes came off the bench to lead the offensive effort with 11 points on the night. Erik Drost would add eight points to the Emmetsburg efforts, while Michael Pugh came away with six points.
