What is your agriculture IQ? Do you think you are "smarter" than today's ag student?
Four teams of students will be competing in Palo Alto Quiz Bowl, featuring questions on all facts of Iowa agriculture, this Saturday, Jan. 26. The question and answer event is sponsored by Palo Alto Corn & Soybean Association and Iowa Corn Growers Association.
With five students on each team, they will compete for cash prizes. Teams will come from Graettinger-Terril, West Bend-Mallard, Emmetsburg, and Iowa lakes Community College.
"This will be a fun way to educate the public on agriculture," said Ritchie Berkland, from the Palo Alto Corn and Soybean Association, coordinator of the local event. "The kids will have a chance to make money for school projects or trips."
Questions will focus on agriculture, including the economics of agriculture in Palo Alto County, economics of agriculture in the state, and questions on beef, pork, poultry and ethanol. Teams will earn points for their answers. As teams ring in, and if their answer incorrect, point value decreases.
