Funeral service for Louise A. Kundel will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Roger Maize officiated.
Burial will be in Rush Lake Cemetery, Curlew. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire.
Louise Anna Kundel was born Feb. 6, 1923 on a farm near Ayrshire, to Alfred Lyon and Annalena (Petersen) Lyon. Louise was a 1941 graduate of Ayrshire High School and a 1943 graduate of Fort Dodge Beauty Academy.
Louise and Jack Kundel were married on Aug. 13, 1944, and assumed responsibility for two family farms. They were married for 46 years when Jack unexpectedly died in 1986.
After retiring from farming, the couple bought the town grocery store which they enjoyed tremendously.
After suffering a stroke in 2000, Louise moved to be close to John and his wife (Devon), first in Kearney, NE, and since 2004 in the St. Louis area.
Louise was a member of the Methodist Church and Circle in Ayrshire.
Louise passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in St. Louis, at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband.
Surviving are her sons, John (Devon) Kundel of Florissant, MO, and Karl (Susan) Kundel of Collegeville, PA; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
