Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks did their best to stay with the top-ranked team in Class 2A Friday night but came up short in a 51-15 loss to Western Christian of Hull. The loss gives Emmetsburg a mark of 1-8 overall on the season and 1-5 in the Lakes Conference at the holiday hiatus.
Western Christian got out to an early 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter using their full court pressure and stingy defense to hold Emmetsburg at bay. The Lady E-Hawks would trail by a 32-9 margin at the halftime break.
Emmetsburg would be unable to get their offense on track in the third quarter as Western Christian held the Lady E-Hawks scoreless and invoked the continuous clock with 1:10 to go in the third to take a 45-9 lead and then coasted to the 51-15 final margin of victory over Emmetsburg.

For the Lady E-Hawks, Alexa Naig battled for nine points, while Ashton Connelly was limited to four points and Whitney Kibbie added two points.
Emmetsburg will resume action on Jan. 8 against Spirit Lake.
