Help Slow The Spread of COVID-19 Simply By Wearing A Mask

By Staff | Oct 22, 2020

Editor’s Note — Due to its length, LeAnn McGranahan’s letter is continued from Tuesday’s issue of The Reporter:

Iowa’s ability to stem its growing rate of infection is very simple; wear a mask when you leave your property.  I get the Emmestburg papers, Estherville paper, Spencer Daily Reporter and the Ruthven Zipcode.  I shake my head when I see pictures of groups of two or more people in the papers none of whom are wearing masks.  There was a photo of 13 people on the front page of the October 1st Democrat all without masks!  Anyone who tells you masks don’t work is essentially putting a loaded gun to your head.

My husband and I will be packing up and moving to Ruthven and the farm in the second half of 2021.  We are looking forward to the move.  We both grew up in Clay County and we miss it; I never thought I’d say I miss flat land but I can’t wait to get back to it!

Of course, when we’ve made that really big move with the 20′ container, two cars, two dogs, and a cat across an ocean and half way across the mainland I will be doubly happy.  Trump won’t be in the White House, old Mitch will no longer be the Senate leader, Pelosi will still be smiling at the cameras, I’ll be looking forward to Harris being the President after Biden’s first term and Iowa will be leaning democratic.

Sincerely yours,
