New Beginnings

By Staff | Jan 10, 2020

With 2020, we begin a new decade. There has been so much hype leading up to this year. It is, after all, a presidential election year. We have been hearing about that for quite some time.

Let’s look back a bit:

Ten years ago, 50-50 in 2020 was launched across the state of Iowa. The main focus of this effort was to recruit, train and mentor women to run for elected office.

Marcie Frevert and Chris Louscher spearheaded the 50-50 in 2020 campaign in Emmetsburg and Palo Alto County. It was a pleasure to work with these two women at local events and my thanks go to both of them for inviting me into the group.

In the last ten years, this group invited women to consider serving in public office at N.U.D.G.E. Parties across the state; held See Yourself Here at the Iowa Capitol; and, conducted Step Up! seminars.

We are told that this effort to get women elected will continue with 50-50 in Iowa, which will be launched on Feb. 1, 2020.

Somewhere, I read that people should not use just the last two digits (20) when signing time-sensitive documents – use 2020. We did it through the teen years, but the experts out there say that just using “20” could lead to manipulation of the actual year. Something to think about.

People interested in Numerology are looking at 2020 in a different light: 2020 = 2x2x5x101; and, twenty times the prime 101. 2020 is a 4 Universal Year in Numerology, because 2+0+2+0 = 4. We are promised that number 4 calms you down and focuses on what matters; representing order, responsibility, stability, family, home, and many more attributes.

As we get going in 2020, let’s look at new beginnings.

At the beginning of a new year, people make resolutions for all kinds of things. Some of the most popular are: Exercise more. Lose weight. Get organized. Learn a new skill or hobby. Live life to the fullest. Save more money / spend less money. Spend more time with family and friends. Quit smoking.

A New Year’s resolution is a promise a person makes for the new year; a decision to do or not do something to accomplish a personal goal or break a habit. People look back at the past year and make an effort to improve themselves as the new year begins.

What are your goals for 2020? Will you have more strength and discipline to move forward with diligence and courage? Will the doors to happiness and success open for you in 2020? Truthfully, we strive for these goals every year. Happy year of new beginnings.
