Blessed To Live In Emmetsburg

By Staff | Jul 20, 2018

To the Editor:

During our recent trip to Italy and Greece, I received an emergency call from my sister, Kris, who was staying in our house and visiting our Dad at Emmetsburg Care Center. During the heavy rains, a tile line had backed up and our basement had 4 inches of water in it and rising. I called neighbor and friend Mike Carlson who dropped everything to help and together he and Kris got the sump pump going- pretty amazing that we could talk to each other through the entire process while being half a planet away. The next morning, I messaged E’Hawk football coach Mike Dunlap and asked if the team could help get the furniture/electronics out of the basement so everything would not be ruined. About 7:45 a.m. a group of about 25 dedicated athletes showed up with Coach Jeremy Zeigler and in less than a half hour everything was moved to the garage!! I cannot thank Mike Carlson, Coaches Dunlap and Zeigler, and the awesome young men of the E’Hawk football team for helping my family through a very big challenge. It is people like this that truly make us realize how blessed we are to live in a community like Emmetsburg!!

With great appreciation
