Together We Can Do So Much
Helen Keller said it best, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” That is exactly how Fun on the Five started. A group of individuals had a vision of a family-friendly day centered around our biggest natural asset, Five Island Lake.
The day was full of children laughing as they jumped on bouncy houses, families building sand castles, and kayaks gliding across glass-like water. Fishing poles were cast, feet were tapping to live music, bags were being sunk in holes, while pontoon guests admired the gorgeous lakeside homes.
This vision only became reality when many citizens of the community contributed to the event. Thank you to all those who volunteered their time and energy. We would like to list everyone that contributed, but it would be endless. Those that donated with monetary or physical items were as follows: Northland, Iowa Trust & Savings Bank, Johnson Realty, Farmers National Company Mike Wentzel, Rockport Development David & Ruth Rouse, Five Island Bay, Five Island Spa Company, Aaron Dietrich, Jason King, Poet, Mehan Auction Company, Tanner Lundgren, Jim George, Steve Carney, Emmetsburg Education Center, Bridget Carter Dr. Pepper, and Donyelle Brook Photography.
Plans have commenced for next year’s Fun on the Five (June 4, 2017).
