Calling All Candidates For ‘Mrs. Holiday’

By Staff | Aug 21, 2012

A news release was sent out a couple of times looking for an official Holiday Ambassador for Taste of Home magazine. They are asking to hear from our readers who love cooking, decorating and entertaining…and, who take celebrating the holidays to a whole new level.

Here’s the pitch: “The search for Mrs. Holiday seeks to identify an American woman, age 18 or older, who truly embodies the holiday spirit. Her family and friends already consider her the Queen of the Holidays, and her signature recipes are a must-have at every gathering. Mrs. Holiday will now be an advocate, an ambassador, and an inspiration to the country. She’s got memorable recipes combined with a celebration attitude, and is ready to serve up a helping to every American family.”

In your mind’s eye who, from Palo Alto County, can you see as Mrs. Holiday?

We have seen the work of area ladies on display through Garden Clubs, and decorating tables for the Horizons Unlimited theme table dinner. We have tasted the delicious recipes of cooks and caterers from around the county. I’m surprised one of our residents isn’t on the Next Food Network Star program, or one of the other cooking programs on television.

We have lots of talented cooks, decorators and entertainers. Add them all together and who should be nominated? Talk it over the next time a group of you talented ladies get together.

You don’t have much time to get your entry video together. Sept. 7 is the deadline to log on to Face book.com/TasteofHome to upload a short video and signature recipe that “demonstrates how they bring the holidays to life for their family and friends.”

The winner will be selected from the top 100 entries that receive the most votes from the public. So, if you enter please let us know so we can get everyone to vote!

Where to start??Mrs. Holiday candidates can submit videos for Independence Day, New Years, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas. There are even some examples of great submissions. If you’re interested in seeing the sample videos, give me a call.

Here’s the payoff:?”The woman crowned Mrs. Holiday by Taste of Home will receive $50,000 and the chance to live out her celebrity spokesperson dreams. Her friends and family may already know that her home cooking is the best in town, but now she’ll be able to share her talent, recipes and enthusiasm with millions of Taste of Home readers as she travels the country, making live appearances, participating in interviews and cooking segments, and regularly contributing content to Taste of Home magazine.”

There you go, readers. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is calling your name. Here is your chance to be the star we already know you are.
